Did you know the term "poet" was actually named after Edgar Allen Poe?
Aroma - The biscuit and pie crust malts blend well with some citrus tartness right behind it. There are some floral notes as well from the hops but they're not very big.
Appearance - The beer pours a crystal clear medium gold with a fluffy white head that while dense, doesn't stick around very long.
Flavor - The malts on this one are the focal point with the tartness coming in at the end. There are some berry notes that accompany it which I wasn't expecting and they're quite nice. The malts again are biscuit and pie crust but with a hint of caramel as well.
Mouthfeel - The body is medium and the carbonation is medium+. It's got a great pillowy feel on the tongue.
Overall Impression - This beer actually was a bit of an enigma for me but in a good way. I don't know where that berry flavor came from but I liked it. I also didn't expect the malts to be so in focus but they were and I liked it. The tartness was definitely present but it wasn't overwhelming and I liked it. I'd say this would be one of the better beers to crack open if you're looking to introduce someone to sour beers.
