Name of Beer: From the Ibex Cellar: Barrel-Aged Barleywine Ale
Beer Style: Barleywine
Our Thoughts: Schlafly just keeps on honing their "whale" skills. Last week we featured their new beer The Variant II, an imperial stout aged in brandy barrels with cherries. This week we're ecstatic to bring to your attention their newest addition to the Ibex Cellar series of beers. Keeping their barrel game strong, they've taken one our favorite styles, the majestic barleywine, and let it slumber in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. The resulting beautifully boozy behemoth will be redolent of oak, vanilla, dark fruit, caramel and bourbon flavors. Everything about this beer puts it in the top tier of new releases. We're beyond stoked for this one because, as we all know, barleywine is life!

Name of Beer: Sunshine Chugsuckle-Mosaic
Beer Style: New England Style IPA
Our Thoughts: Since bursting onto the scene in 2012, Mosaic hops have proven be a dynamic superstar in the craft beer world. They are able to both hold their own in a single hop IPA and show off their plethora of flavors including blueberry , tangerine and bubblegum or be used in combination with other hops to create magical taste sensations. Mother's has chosen to go the former route, using Mosaic exclusively in their New England style IPA, Sunshine Chugsuckle. Typically hazy in appearance, with juicy, tropical and citrus fruit flavors dominating and very little bitterness, this style of beer has swept the nation and we're definitely a huge fan. We'll definitely be on the lookout for this one.

Name of Beer: Quest for the Galaxy
Beer Style: Pale Ale
Our Thoughts: Neat beer fact for the day: The Galaxy hop first appeared commercially in the US in Widmer Brother's Galaxy Hopped Barleywine Ale in 2011. Since then, this Australian hop has exploded in popularity due to it's dual use purpose of providing passion fruit, citrus and peach flavors and aromas to the beer with little pine or bitterness. O'Fallon has chosen to make this lovely hop the focus of their new pale ale, Quest for the Galaxy. At 5.1% ABV, this should prove to be the perfect flavorful session ale that will be your best companion on any quest you choose to undertake. Look for six packs on shelves in the near future.
