Brewing System Details: Brew-in-a-Bag (BIAB) I have a 16 gallon kettle and a nylon mesh bag. I use Reflectix insulation as a wrap for my kettle when mashing. I use an immersion chiller but recently purchased a plate chiller that I am looking forward to use to cool the wort.
Piece of brewing equipment I can’t live without: That would be a toss up between my fermentation temp control (which is a refrigerator on an Inkbird temp control with a reptile heating cord taped throughout the inside) and the insulation for mashing. The fermentation temp control is pretty much self explanatory but the insulation for mashing might sound odd. With BIAB, there are very few moving parts. I have my kettle (a 16 gal Bayou Classic with valve), my brew bag and my insulation to keep mash temp consistent. I do not sparge, so that is removed. For the insulation, I took a roll of Reflectix (which you can buy from Lowe’s) and cut it to wrap around my kettle with cut outs to go around the valve and the handles. It keeps my mash temps where I need them and will usually only lose one or two degrees.
My friends’ favorite beer that I brew: I make a cherry wheat called Trixie Sparklegaze (yea, so what) and my friends love it and it is always popular at festivals.
My favorite beer I brew: I am a hop head and love making IPAs. My favorite one is my G-Dog IPA. This is an all Galaxy hop IPA. My dog’s name is Galaxy and we sometimes call him G…G-Dog IPA.

I make a 1L starter the night before. I use just over 8 gal total volume water. Mash at 150 for 75 min.
