Brewery: Urban Chestnut |
Location: St. Louis , MO |
Name of Beer: Big Shark |
Beer Style: Lemon Radler |
ABV: 4.2% |
Our Thoughts: If you're like us, you spend a lot of time in the great outdoors. Whether your activity of choice is walking the dog, hiking, running or bicycling, the Radler is probably the perfect choice for the active beer geek. These beers are low alcohol, sweet, refreshing and crushable. Originally conceived in the Bavarian region of Germany and translates to "cyclist", a Radler typically consists of a beer and soda mixture, usually half and half, although proportions can be adjusted for taste. For Urban Chestnut's first canned Radler, they teamed up with Big Shark Bicycle Company, a local bicycle store, to bring us Big Shark Lemon Radler, a refreshing lemon flavored lager. Perfect for the upcoming warmer weather, we can definitely see ourselves putting away quite a few of these. Look for this on shelves soon. |

Brewery: Martin City |
Location: Kansas City, MO |
Name of Beer: Imperial Alchemy |
Beer Style: Imperial Stout |
ABV: 9.2% |
Our Thoughts: Some people think bigger is better. Kansas City's Martin City must agree, as they are taking their coffee stout Alchemy and turning it into a giant. Imperial Alchemy will be an imperial stout brewed with Alchemy coffee and vanilla beans packaged in a 12 ounce can. If that wasn't enough, it will be a nitro can, which will add a smooth mouthfeel and silky creaminess to the coffee and vanilla flavors. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, this decadent wonder will surely be a hot commodity. |

Brewery: Logboat |
Location: Columbia, MO |
Name of Beer: Raspberry Bennie |
Beer Style: Imperial Stout |
ABV: 8.5% |
Our Thoughts: By now, Logboat has proven themselves to be one of the rising stars of the Missouri craft beer family. Their portfolio of beers is outstanding, their commitment to the community is commendable and most of all, they're good people. Always pushing to keep things fresh and exciting, Logboat is taking Bennie, an imperial stout made with Fretboard coffee and locally sourced cocoa nibs (and one of our favorites) and adding raspberries to it. This will add a nice fruity sweetness to help balance out the roastiness of the coffee and cocoa. Logboat hasn't steered us wrong yet, so we're over the moon about Raspberry Bennie. This should pop up on tap handles soon. |

Brewery: Narrow Gauge |
Location: Florissant, MO |
Name of Beer: SHB: DDH Nelson Sauvin |
Beer Style: IPA |
ABV: 7.0% |
Our Thoughts: Having just returned from getting our fill of King Fallen Flag, Narrow Gauge's newest imperial IPA (which we can attest is the true king of beers and out of this world delicious), we didn't think the day could get any better. However, when we laid eyes on the label for another new IPA from Narrow Gauge, we almost literally jumped for joy. SHB:DDH Nelson Sauvin is a single hop IPA that has been double dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin, a dual purpose hop from New Zealand that shows off strong white wine and gooseberry flavors and aromas. Narrow Gauge are the reigning king of hops in our book, so making the trek back out to Florissant for this is a no-brainer. Don't miss out! |

Brewery: Perennial Artisan Ales |
Location: St. Louis, MO |
Name of Beer: Prodigal |
Beer Style: Imperial Stout |
ABV: 10.5% |
Our Thoughts: When it comes to imperial stouts, Perennial has some of the most coveted in the country. From Sump and 17 to Maman and Abraxas, they've proven they're among the elite. So we're betting that Prodigal, a new imperial stout, will be a fine addition to the stable. We don't have a ton of details about this one, but look for 750 ml bottles of Prodigal to appear on shelves soon. |
