Brewery: Third Wheel
Location: St. Peters, MO
Name of Beer: Capo
Beer Style: Stout
Our Thoughts: For having only been open a short amount of time, Third Wheel has made quite the name for themselves, luring beer geeks to their brewpub in St. Peters to indulge their senses. With their vast array of brews (over 40 according to Untappd) they've got you covered not matter what your tastes may be. However, if you like dark, roasty stouts, Capo will be right up your alley. Capo is a stout that features the addition of vanilla and cinnamon and comes in at 7.6 % ABV, encroaching on the imperial stout style. Third Wheel likes to think of Capo as the second in command to B.O.S.S., their imperial stout, so you know it will be big, bold and bossy. Check it out when it hits tap handles.
Location: Columbia, MO
Name of Beer: Dry Hopped Bobber
Beer Style: Pale Lager
Our Thoughts: In a time of pastry stouts, hazy IPA's and beers that have everything but the kitchen sink thrown in, it's easy to forget what a simple thing beer actually is. Water, hops, yeast and malt are all that's necessary to create the magic we all know and love. Luckily, some brewers haven't forgotten beer's humble roots and continue to brew the classics. Having been inspired by classic German lagers, Logboat brought us Bobber, a pale lager with Noble hops that is crisp, clean and delicious. Now they're taking things up a notch by releasing Dry Hopped Bobber, which will place the hops on center stage. Logboat has yet to let us down, so you know we'll definitely be on the prowl for this.
Brewery: Logboat and Public House
Name of Beer: Updraft
Beer Style: Pale Ale
Our Thoughts: Last week we mentioned the Logboat/Public House collaboration called "Twirlwind." This week, we're looking at the other half of that partnership, "Updraft." In celebration the True/False film festival, an annual festival that takes place March 1st-4th in Columbia, they have created this Pale Ale to serve alongside the Twirlwind Stout. These two very different options should make for a lot of happy cinephiles.
Brewery: Perennial Artisan Ales
Location: St. Louis, MO
Name of Beer: Prism
Beer Style: Dry-Hopped Saison
Our Thoughts: From Perrenial: "Prism is an ongoing series we created to reflect classic and new hop varietals through the form of dry-hopped saison. Three times a year we'll release cans and draft of a new PRISM using a simple grist and a blend of saison yeast strains to create a platform for showcasing a different combination of hops. mosaic + motueka brings bright tropical fruit notes with a touch of blueberry lemonade."
