Today we have a special "post-election" New Brew News that will raise your spirits no matter who you voted for. We're featuring just one super special beer today that every self respecting beer enthusiast will definitely flip out over. The name of the beer is Aphelion (the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid or comet at which it is furthest from the sun, for all of you beer AND science geeks) and it is a collaboration between Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton and Charleville Vineyard and Microbrewery from Ste. Genevieve. This is Craft Beer Cellar's third collaboration, the other two being Dry Hopped Katy with 2nd Shift and Kiwi Berliner Weisse with Perennial.
This beer will be packaged in 12 ounce bottles (what the what?!) and features Charleville's new logo that has been updated to include their new location in St. Louis, which will be located on Chouteau Avenue and will open next spring. The recipe for this beer comes from Abbey Spencer, who will be opening Third Wheel Brewing in St. Peters, MO in 2017. She is also the president of the all-women beer collective The OG.
You're probably thinking to yourself, "That's all fine and dandy, but what about the beer itself???" Well, here are the juicy tidbits: This is a rye whiskey barrel aged imperial stout with vanilla beans. Let that sink in for a minute. An imperial stout. Aged in rye whiskey barrels. With vanilla beans. This beer is hitting every keyword in the "whale" dictionary! This will definitely be limited and in very high demand. Keep watching social media for more details as they become available. In the meantime, no matter how your day is going or if your candidate won or lost, you know that great beer is still being made right here in St. Louis.
