In conjunction with our Home Brew & Music Walk, and in coordination with 4204-Main Street Brewing Company, Belleville Main Street is offering the first Cavalier Home Brew Competition!
Categories will be split into:
Light, Medium, and Dark
Each brewer will use their discretion when entering their beer into a category. Each brewer may enter ONE beer into each category (Maximum 3 different beer entries). Each entry will have a $5 entry fee and may be registered at https://squareup.com/store/belleville-main-street.
“Sour” style beers or any beer styles including any fermenting agents other than Saccharomyces will NOT be eligible. (No Brettanomyces or Lactobacillus).
We ask that brewers keep in mind how their entries would scale up if they were to win the grand prize. Not all ingredients may be available to the brewery at a larger scale. (If your pale ale calls for 6 ounces of galaxy hops or a pound of juniper berries per 5 gallons it may still be entered, and may win, but probably won’t be a recipe able to scale up. A different recipe may have to be used or a new recipe may be built with the help of the professional brewers.)
Each category will have a maximum of 50 entries.
Each brewer will drop off a minimum of 2 10oz or 12oz bottles of beer for each category they enter. No “flip top” bottles please. NO MAILED ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Bottles need free of labels and identifying marks of any kind. Each bottle needs to be marked by a piece of white paper containing the brewers name, phone number, category, and confirmation number from registration secured by a rubber band (no tape please). Please write legibly in black ink.
Entry drop off will occur at 4204’s Banquet Center (6435 West Main Street, Belleville, IL) between March 18th and April 1st during normal business hours.
No late entries will be accepted.
Judging will take place the week before the Belleville Home Brew Walk by the 4204 Main Street Brewing staff as well as a Hofbräuhaus St. Louis – Belleville brewer.
Prizes will be announced before the day of the event. The overall “Best of Show” will have the opportunity to brew with the 4204 Main Street Brewers on their 7 BBL system with the finished product being tapped at one of their Belleville locations.
Brewers must be present at the Belleville Home Brew Walk to win. Brewers will need to check in upon arrival at the event. Admission fees will be required for all attendees sampling at the event.
Feedback sheets will be available for pickup for all entries at the registration table after the awards ceremony.
