If I had to guess, I'd say she'll get the zika virus within a week.
Justin:
Aroma - Floral hops come out first followed by some pie crust maltiness. There isn't much beyond that but it's subtle and nice. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - A soft white head stays afloat on this light-gold, completely clear beer. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The hops are a great blend of spicy, floral and earthy. The malts are very light and are wheat bread and a very, very, very soft bread crust. Well balanced. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is very big and the carbonation is about medium for a pleasant fluffy mouthfeel. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - The difference between an American IPA and an English IPA is pretty big. American hops and English hops are wildly different and the English malts are more caramelly. So if you're drinking this beer thinking "this isn't an IPA" you're wrong. It's just not the IPA you're used to. It's not going to blow your mind but it's a nice representation of the English version. |

Blake:
Aroma - Earthy and floral hops are up front in the aroma with some sweet bready malts that give the aroma some heft. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - Light gold with a white head that leaves a bit of lacing. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Hops bring a nice bittering aspect to the beer, and a bit of floral and earthy spice. The bittering works real well with the malt that produces flavors of biscuit and pie crust. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium+ body with medium carbonation. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Urban Chestnut really doesn't get the respect they deserve with a lot of the beer crowd out there. They don't release a bunch of barrel aged stouts or sours, so they aren't as trendy as they probably should be. This is just another example of how they seem to be able to nail just about every style they attempt. It's a great representation of an English IPA, and one I'd order on tap any time. It's a lot milder than what you'd expect from an IPA, but it's true to the origins of the style. |
Score: 8/10 |
