I wanted to punch myself in the face for being a hoosier.
Justin:
Aroma - The hops bring a whole ton of fruit with them. Peach is huge with pineapple right behind it. The peach is almost like a pureed peach than a fresh peach. The citrus is large enough where the malts can't fight through. There's none of your typical grapefruit or orange, just big tropical notes. |
Score: 11/12 |
Appearance - Very turbid, very hazy gold which is appropriate for the style. The head is dense and creamy and clings to the glass. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - It's almost like drinking carbonated fruit juice. There's a lot of peach, some mango and some big pineapple. The malts are bread dough, pie crust and white bread. The finish is dry. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is medium+ and the body is just below that. With less carbonation, the whole "fruit juice" sensation would be huge. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - If you've been following along the last few days, this is the third beer in a row from Trillium and boy are they treating us right. This style of IPA is getting more and more popular in the Midwest now that our hometown folks at Narrow Gauge are introducing fresh versions of it. This one again didn't disappoint and if you like what you've read, we've got three more Trillium for you next weekend so stay tuned. |
