Justin:
Aroma - Yep. There's honey in this beer and you can tell. It's sweet from the honey and that really subdues the peach from the hops. It's a little earthy and floral with a big spiciness right at the end. Alcohol is there, too. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Very turbid, very hazy gold which is appropriate for the style. The head is dense and creamy and clings to the glass. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - This beer has almost a chardonnay character which is awesome. The honey brings sweetness but also some dryness along with it. The hops in this one are juicy peach and awesome grapefruit from the Citra (which was the only hop used in the beer). The bitterness is big but the honey keeps it in check. |
Score: 18/20 |
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is above medium and the body is medium. The dryness does a good job of making sure the bitterness doesn't linger. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Citra and Mosaic are the "in" hops right now and there's a reason for that. This beer was 100% Citra in the kettle, whirlpool and TWO dry hops that this beer went through. The massive juiciness of the hops was awesome and that honey gave its some fun flavor as well. I was spoiled to get these beers through a friend that trades and if you have the opportunity to get your hands on ANY Trillium beers, say yes and you won't be sorry. |
