I bought this beer because I was going to a parade. True story.
Justin:
Aroma - No green pepper on the nose (my biggest peeve with coffee beers)! There's a sweetness that is quite interesting because I can't place where it's from (burnt sugar maybe?). It's roasty with dark chocolate and a dry graininess in the aroma. Coffee is there but not overwhelming. Breathe deep enough and you'll even get some earthy hops. |

Appearance - Deep brown, nearly black with ruby highlights and brown head that leaves behind some great lacing. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Again, coffee is there but not overwhelming and there's a big chocolate character shining through. There is some bitterness that is mostly from the malt and some great dark malt character coming in as well. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Light-medium body with low-medium carbonation. It's thin and creamy? Is that possible? |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - This one was...unique. The mouthfeel confused the hell out of me and the flavor was more chocolate than coffee. That being said, it was a solid beer. Would I pick it up again? Probably not. But if you like the style it's worth giving it a look because it could be your next go-to. |
