Justin:
Aroma - It's quite malty. The hops are almost secondary to the malts. Very caramelly, burnt sugar, bread crust and toasted bread. The hops that do come through are dank and spicy with no real citrus. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - It's crystal clear with phenomenal lacing that originates at its thin, off-white head. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - It's very malty without the big, in your face hops I expect in an IPA. The malts are bread crust and caramel and the hops are pine and resin with much more fruitiness than I picked up in the aroma. |
Score: 15/20 |
Mouthfeel - Low carbonation and a medium body make this one creamy and velvety. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - This is one that I've had the privilege of trying on numerous occasions even though it doesn't distro to STL (thanks all you Florida vacationing friends!). While it's a good IPA, it's not balanced enough for me to think it's great. More hops and I think the balance would kick into gear on this one. |
