I've been married for 8 years and I don't even know what that is.
Justin:
Aroma - This one is straight forward: Caramel, bourbon, oak and light vanilla. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - The beer is medium amber with a thin, khaki head that sticks around. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - It was in bourbon barrels so it makes sense that there's bourbon....a LOT of bourbon. I'm actually picking up a little bit of some piney hops and there is some sweet caramel that brings the beer into balance. |
Score: 17/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium+ carbonation and a medium body give this one a creamy texture. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - I was surprised by the hops in this one, not because they were "this" or "that" but because I could taste them. That was a big takeaway for this beer in general. With all the big, competing flavors that typically come with a barrel aged beer, the hop presence was very welcome. This is the third (and final) beer we have from Southern Prohibition's Barrel Aged Series and all of them were worth the purchase. Too bad they're a 9 hour drive away and don't distribute here. |
