Justin:
Aroma - Hops, hops and more hops. Super piney and dank. Citrus notes of orange and peach are also coming through. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - Pale gold with creamy white head |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The beer is not very well balanced but in this case, I find that the hops are appropriately overwhelming. It's like biting into a bitter peach at a Grateful Dead concert. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - medium body with a somewhat dry finish |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - In the last few years, Schlafly has become more bold with the beers they're putting out. This is most evident with their IBEX Series. TIPA is bold and unabashedly in your face with its hop profile and it works so well. When this was first released a couple years ago, I was buying it probably once a week and still find myself at the checkout line with it when my hoppy beer supply gets low at the house. |
Score: 8/10 |
Blake:
Aroma - This one has such a strong hop profile that you'd probably get plenty of aroma even if you were congested. Lots of floral and citrus coming through. Very pleasing aroma. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Clear gold/yellow with solid white head. Nice head retention on this brew. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Citrus from the hops, and a little malty sweetness. There is a bit of dankness from the hops, but it doesn't detract from the beer. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium body, medium carbonation, nice dry finish. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Schlafly has some great seasonal releases, and I know many hop heads that make sure to pick this one up fresh every year. I'm not as into beers like this, but I can recognize why people seek it out. Beers like this is why Schlafly has been a leader in the craft brewing community for years. |
