Justin:
Aroma - Hops are the primary player here and they are extremely floral but also have some subtle fruit character with grape and a citrus flavor that is lemon and soft pineapple. The malts are hard to find but white bread describes them best. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a light gold with a pillowy white head floating on top. As you drink, the cap of foam stays with the beer and clings to the side of the glass. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The floral character coats your tongue, fully dominating the flavor. The citrus notes are of more tart fruits now such as lemon and passion fruit. The malt's sweetness does a great job of balancing out the hops but there isn't much bitterness to match. The bitterness that does show up is on the back of the tongue in the dry finish. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is medium+ and the body is just shy of that. The beer itself is slightly heavy on tongue and has a nice tingle. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Using a single malt and a single hop is called a "SMASH" beer. This is an example of a SMASH beer because it used just 2-row malt and Hallertau Blanc hops. The label even tells you what to expect in the beer with helpful little check marks! This one was pretty dry and pretty sweet and with the grape flavors, it totally is reminiscent of a white wine. Not like a white wine, but the comparison could be made. Very drinkable and would be awesome with some white fish. |
Score: 8/10 |
