Best Quote During Tasting
What I'm trying to say is that when it first comes in my mouth….I mean….whatever, you guys are jerks.
Justin:
Aroma - This is a doozy. It's got apricot, mango, any tropical fruit you can think of, some spiciness from the yeast, and absolutely no hops. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - This one looks like a frothy orange juice but the head dissipates quickly. Extremely cloudy from sitting on all that fruit. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - This went from "What?" to "Awesome!" in my first drink. It comes in like straight up tingly apricot juice and finishes with all the acidity, tartness and sweetness you expect from the style. So good. |
Score: 19/20 |
Mouthfeel - Dry finish, bright and sparkling, very high carbonation. |
Score: 5/5 |
Overall Impression - I thought they hit a home run with Lazy Ballerina but this offering was insane! It's shocking how much of a transformation takes place with each sip. You get sweetness from the fruit up front and then all the characteristics from the style come through in the back of your tongue in the finish. This makes me even more excited about this series and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the next release. |

Blake:
Aroma - Fruit, especially apricot, strong but not overwhelming. There is hint of lemon and other citrus fruits in the aroma as well. Underneath it is a bit of earthiness from the yeast. |
Score: 11/12 |
Appearance - Hazy gold with a light fizzy head that dissipates quickly. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - Once again apricot is dominant, just like the aroma, but the way the beer goes from sweet to pleasantly sour is fantastic. This is the kind of tartness that could easily be enjoyed by someone new to the style. Just extremely well balanced. |
Score: 20/20 |
Mouthfeel - Crisp due to the high carbonation. Not as abrasive as a sparkling wine, but still comparable because of the dry finish. |
Score: 5/5 |
Overall Impression - I honestly can not say enough good things about this beer. I'd buy a whole case if I didn't think my wife would kill me. Although with all the big releases right now, she might well do that anyways. I've seen bottles of this a few times in the past week, and it's hard to believe a beer this good (and limited) is still around. Do yourself a favor if you see this one, pick it up. Also, I wanted to note that I'm glad what we heard previously was wrong and this series is continuing. We can't wait to see what is next. |
