Best Quote During Tasting
If it's a 90's movie with Tia Carrere, you're damn right I know about it.
Justin:
Aroma - As advertised , this one smells like neapolitan ice cream. There's definite strawberry and chocolate, and unless my mind is willing it there, some vanilla too. There's also a sweetness but it's not unpleasant or very strong. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours an opaque, deep brown, nearly black, with a dense brown head comprised of small bubbles that lingers. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - There's a lot more strawberry in the flavor but again, it's the first thing that comes out. The chocolate is a milk chocolate and there is some sweet sugary notes that are similar to vanilla. Again, it's sweet but it's not overly sweet so it all works well and in balance to create the illusion of the ice cream. With all that said, there is some artificialness to the strawberry that can't be ignored. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is a little above medium and the carbonation is in the same range. The mouthfeel is quite nice and nearly creamy. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - This one was a little perplexing, only because the strawberry was quite artificial. Not that the ice cream flavor isn't by any means but this is a beer review, not an ice cream review. With all that said, this could blow minds to people that don't know that beer could taste this way. It would be great for pairing with desserts also so don't count it out for a purchase, just know what you're drinking it for. |
