Justin:
Aroma - An extremely potent mixture of peppery Belgian yeast and citrus hops greets you as you pop open the can. When you plunge your nose into the glass, those same aromas are even more intense and are accompanied by floral notes and some very grainy, chalky light malts. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - When poured into your glass, the beer is a clear, pale gold with a very dense white cap of foam. The head of the beer is a finger high and sticks to the sides of your glass leaving remnants of foam after each sip. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The aromas come to life even bigger in the flavor of the beer! The same white pepper from the Belgian yeast and big citrus hops (lemon, grapefruit, and mandarin orange) come and smack your tongue from all angles. The fruitiness from the hops is the biggest piece of the flavor and is much bigger than the aroma leads you to believe it is. The finish is dry and it is fun to have the juicy hops and dryness play together. |
Score: 17/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is just below medium and the carbonation is medium+. The overall sensation is pillowy and soft on your tongue while lively enough to cleanse your palate after each sip. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Dear Pipeworks, you make good beer. This one was a great and it was a pleasant change from your typical IPA. This would easily be a summer crusher because it's on the lighter side to drink and the ABV isn't out of control. This beer was part of a 4 pack that was given as a surprise from a relative visiting from Chicago. After this review, I have 0 left and now I'm sad. |
Score: 9/10 |
