Where the hell is Buckaroo's Missouri?
Justin:
Aroma - A nice whiff of caramel, wheat bread and bread crust from the malt. Hops ring in with citrus, grapefruit, and pine needles. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a hazy gold with a thin white head. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Caramel sweetness balances the orange peel, citrusy, and slightly dank hops. |
Score: 15/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium+ body, low-medium carbonation. Semi-dry finish. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Yowza was I impressed with this one. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much because I wasn't sure Bucyrus was a real place. The beer had an amazing balance and the hops hit pretty hard on top of it all. After you're done with each drink, the hops linger around in a good way. I look forward to reviewing some more beers from Piney because I'm curious about what else they have going on. |

Blake:
Aroma - A healthy amount of pine and citrus are at the forefront with a solid malt backbone consisting of caramel and bread notes. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Deep hazy gold with a thin head that holds up with decent retention and some nice lacing. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Caramel backbone that was in the aroma runs through in the flavor as well. Hops are mainly citrus and pine with a bit of grassy/floral notes. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium body and medium carbonation with a very clean and crisp finish. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - I hadn't had much from Piney River outside of local beer festivals they attend, but solid IPAs like this one will make me take more notice in the future. Hopefully we can go down their way sometime this year and check out all their offerings. |
