I grunt like a fat guy. I mean, I am a fat guy but the grunting is just too much.
Justin:
Aroma - White bread, cracker and subtle, floral hops. Deep sniffs are necessary, there are no strong aromas. |
Score: 8/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a crystal clear, light gold with a thin, white head that leaves immediately. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - Pale malts with the same floral hops are there but the overall flavor is very subtle. It's definitely malt forward but other than the crackery, grain flavors, there's little else to be found. |
Score: 13/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium+ body with low-medium carbonation and a crisp finish. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - From our last review of a Piney River Brewing beer, we learned that Bucyrus, MO was a real place. In this review, we learn that the "Big Piney River" is a real river in Missouri. I have to say, while this beer wasn't overly impressive, I would 1,000,000% take this on a float trip. It's easy to drink and it's not as crazy carbonated as most macros so it goes down without that carb bite, which leaves a smooth finish. |

Blake:
Aroma - There were no strong aromas on this one. Pale malts produce a bit of biscuits and white cracker. There is a bit of floral hops as well. |
Score: 8/12 |
Appearance - Crystal clear, honey colored, with a thin head that vanishes in a matter of seconds. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - A slight hint of sweetness in the pale malts, but mainly bread notes and grains. It's a very simple flavor, but works well. |
Score: 14/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied and medium carbonation. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - It isn't meant to blow your socks off, it's meant to go down easy, which it does. There are better representations of the style out there, but this would be great to take on a Missouri float trip for sure. |
Score: 7/10 |
