It's hard to get it out once it's in so tight.
Justin:
Aroma - A very zesty, kiwi aroma jumps out mixed with sulfur. The malts can be picked up easily as white bread and cracker. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a beautiful pale straw with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The tartness is huge and the kiwi isn't picked up until it hits the back of your tongue. The malts have the same bready flavor that they had in the aroma. Finishes insanely dry. |
Score: 17/20 |
Mouthfeel - There's very high carbonation with a thin and light body. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - This wasn't just sold exclusively at the Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton, it was actually brewed exclusively for them. The beer was very bright and deliciously tart. My only complaint was the lack of intense kiwi flavor. There was definitely kiwi there but it was very subtle in the flavor and I wish there was more. I've got a couple bottles of this left and will definitely break them out during the first hot day of summer. |

Blake:
Aroma - Citrus and sulfur with a bit of tartness are joined by mellow tones of kiwi. Grainy wheat characteristics of bread dough also shine through quite well. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Pale yellow with a slight haze and a thin white head. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The kiwi is certainly there, but not overpowering by any means. There is some mild acidity and tartness that pair well with the fruit flavors present. Ever present is the wheat background that balances out the slightly sour and tart flavors in this beer. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Light bodied and medium carbonation. Dry finish. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - Kiwi just isn't as intense of a fruit as apricot, pineapple, and many other fruits that seem to be dominating the adjunct of Berliner Weisses. This one is still a solid win in my book. The kiwi is just perceptible enough to be enjoyable, while the base Berliner Weisse is fantastic as always. |
Score: 8/10 |
