Best Quote During Tasting
I don't care how drunk I was, I will always remember that you told me you cried during The Notebook.
Justin:
Aroma - It's definitely hop forward but the malts are coming in big, too. The hops are dank and juicy. There's nice pineapple, berry and mango and then the resinous character soon follows. The malts have white bread and a bit of a pie crust quality. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer is a clear, pale gold with a frothy white head that sticks to the glass like its life depends on it. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The hops are big and have more bitterness than I was anticipating. The hops' flavor is more citrus than anything else and the pineapple is leading the way. The malts are again white bread, biscuity and toasty and are overpowered by the bitterness but they put up a fight. |
Score: 15/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body was on the thin side and the carbonation was just above medium. It comes across as slightly watered down. |
Score: 2/5 |
Overall Impression - I love Oskar Blues. I love their hoppy beer, I love their big stouts, I love it all. This one, however was just good, not great. The mouthfeel was lacking and the balance was a little off. I would DEFINITELY take this on a float trip or to a barbecue because like any good session IPA, I feel like I could toss back a few of these no problem on a day where that was the goal. |
Score: 7/10 |
