Aroma - Bread crust and toasted character from the malts are huge. There's also some brief caramel there but it isn't very upfront.
Appearance - This one pours a medium amber with a dense, tan head made up of tight, small bubbles. The head does eventually fade, leaving behind sticky lacing and a thin cap that floats on top of the beer.
Flavor - Crisp, toasted malts are the most present with some of those bread crust notes sneaking in right behind it. The whole thing evokes caramel without becoming "caramelly," which I know sounds crazy but it's true. The slightly spicy hops do a great job of balancing the beer while letting the malts be the central focus.
Mouthfeel - The body is slightly above medium and the carbonation is slightly below medium. It's got a full, crisp mouthfeel but could use just a hair more carbonation to make it really have that lager bite.
Overall Impression - I love fall beers and Oktoberfests are the main reason. I'm a big lager fan and it's a style that gets overlooked nowadays in lieu of all those 10% stouts out there. Old Bakery doesn't change the Oktoberfest game with this one per se, but it is a very, very good example of an Oktoberfest and I will be purchasing it again.
