Justin:
Aroma - The first thing that I get is that it's super malty (caramel and bread crust). I can also get some alcohol on the nose as well. The hops are at the end of the aroma with some nice fruity citrus character. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer is a golden orange with a tight, white head made up of tiny bubbles. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The malts are big and sweet. They're equal parts caramel and butterscotch. The bitterness doesn't get drowned out though because it is big and the hops themselves are really, really floral. The other thing I'm getting is a bit of an alcohol bite but at nearly 10% ABV, it's not unexpected. |
Score: 17/20 |
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is medium+ and the body is medium+ for a full, creamy mouthfeel. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - While Mother's makes it out of Springfield, it never makes it to the city of St. Louis. There are areas around the city that get their beer (Arnold for example) but the fact we can't pick this up at one of our many awesome bottle shops is kinda disappointing. This beer was big and malty but the bitterness was there in complete balance to make this one fun to drink. |
Score: 8/10 |
