Justin:
Aroma - The hops are the first things that come out of the glass and they're spicy and earthy with just a little bit of floral character. The malts are white bread and just the slightest bit of bread crust/pie crust as well. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a bright gold with a bright white cap of foam made up of loose bubbles. The head sits on top of the beer, thick at the edges but thin in the center. It leaves a ring around the glass but allows you to see straight down to the bottom of the glass through a thin film. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The hops are quite perplexing and complex. The bitterness is more than expected and you get more floral and earthy than spice, followed by some citrus character on the back of your tongue. It's a layered mix of hop character that really adds to the beer. The hops start off as almost dandelion and end as subtle peach juice. The malts are there for balance and do a great job bringing sweetness. They're like a homemade white bread with a soft, sweet center. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is medium and the carbonation is medium+. It's a sparkling beer with enough body to get past the idea of "thin" but it doesn't coat the tongue. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - So, I said some strange things above about dandelions and peach juice. You can take those as the ramblings of a madman or you can see if you can find those flavors yourself when you try the beer. The Delta Series is new for Logboat and we reviewed their Jerk Alert! recently and were very happy with it. This one is in the same vain. It's different, but familiar. It's simple but complex. It's definitely something worth trying and when the next Delta Series release comes out, you bet we're giving it a try. |
Score: 8/10 |
