Must be a thing I don't even know about yet.
Justin:
Aroma - Big chocolate: milk chocolate and chocolate powder. Malt comes across as dry and chalky. Here's where my description gets weird: It smells like a freezer burned iced cream sandwich...but not in a bad way. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Pours black with a tan head that settles slowly. The beer is nearly opaque before it's tilted. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Milk chocolate, some funk from the wild yeast but there's a predominant bitter dark malt coming through. No hops to be found and there's a slight "musty" note as well. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Thin body, medium carbonation, and a dry finish. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - While unique and definitely delicious, this one left me wanting more. The mouthfeel really takes away from what you'd expect from a typical stout and while this isn't a "typical stout" I was really hoping for that thick mouthfeel. With that being said, I would definitely try this one if you had the changes. It's good, even great but it's less than what I expected. |
