Justin:
Aroma - Subtle citrus, some spiciness and not much funk on the nose. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Cloudy with a fluffy white head that lasts forever. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - The brett character brings the funk while the tartness makes it nicely balanced. Some of the bread notes from the malt are perceptible. While it does have some of the barnyard characteristics associated with the yeast, it has more of the fruity flavors you'd expect from brett. |
Score: 17/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium mothfeel with medium body. Medium-high carbonation. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - You've likely only had this if you've been in VT or are on the beer trade scene. This is a highly acclaimed brewery that makes highly sought after beers. While I found it to be very enjoyable and delicious, it may be a little more funky for people looking to start drinking sours. |

Blake:
Aroma - Some mild funk, some white pepper spice, and some light lemon dominate the aroma. There's a slight floral character that is presumably from the yeast used in this beer. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - Fluffy white head and cloudy straw colored yellow. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - The right amount of funk you'd expect from a well made Saison. Citrus flavors meld nicely with the funk, and underneath those are some floral characteristics that reveal themselves after the strong flavors of citrus die down. Bread/cracker notes are in there as well. For something so light, it has a lot going on. |
Score: 18/20 |
Mouthfeel - Light-medium body with medium carbonation. Very light clean finish. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - At 4% this beer is incredibly sessionable. However, with how sought out Hill Farmstead beers are, I doubt you'll find this one easily. This beer was thrown in as a generous extra in a trade I made recently. I've only had one other Hill Farmstead beer and it was incredible. Vermont seems very far away, but this is a brewery many big beer fans will travel to because they produce such excellent beer. |
Score: 9/10 |
