Sweet Dee or The Waitress?
Justin:
Aroma - An effervescent hop aroma (earthy, spicy, floral) comes out first, accompanied by slight sulfur. The malt is a sweet mix of white cracker and bread dough. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a crystal clear gold with a thin, off-white head that lingers briefly before residing to a thin film. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The balance is incredible. The first thing you notice is the floral hops that hit the front of your tongue. Soon after, the sweet, malty bread notes come through until you experience a slightly spicy, but mostly floral blast of hops as you swallow. You're left with a crisp finish that cleans your palate. |
Score: 18/20 |
Mouthfeel - It has a medium body with medium+ carbonation. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - Pilsners get lost today with all the IPAs, Sours and Stouts that are dominating the current market. There's something to be said for a well-done pilsner and this one falls into that category. This could be my summer beer, hands down. Not just a grilling in the sun kind of summer beer, but a float trip beer, a poolside beer, a watching baseball beer, a doing laundry beer...you get the idea. |

Blake:
Aroma - Earthy and floral hops hit almost as soon as the can is opened. Lots of light malt characteristics, cracker and breadiness. |
Score: 11/12 |
Appearance - Pale gold with stunning clarity and a fair amount of carbonation leading to a 1 finger tall head that dies down to a thin white head that leaves some nice spotty lacing after a long drink. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - Boldly hoppy, sticking with earthy and floral hops. Balancing the beer out is the bread notes from the pilsner malts, and a bit of light sweetness as well. |
Score: 18/20 |
Mouthfeel - Medium body and medium carbonation. Finishes clean. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - If this were in cases with a slight bump in price over large macro domestic pilsners and lagers, I'd be buying it all summer as my party beer. This one would be my float trip beer of choice. It's just an impressive example of how a beer of this style can still pack a ton of flavor. |
Score: 9/10 |
