Best Quote During Tasting
3% beer? What is this, Ohio?
Aroma - A puff of sulfur pops out when you open the can. Once you move past that, you're able to get some nice tartness from the beer and some sweet tartness from the fruit. The fruit also brings a slightly earthiness so you know they're not using extract.
Appearance - This is an absolutely clear beer that pours rose colored with a gigantic sparkling head. The bright white head sits on top of the beer, reaching at least three inches above the top of the liquid. It fades quickly leaving behind a ring that surrounds the beer and sticks to the glass.
Flavor - That sure is sour! There is a big champagne quality to it but the biting lactic sourness quickly reminds you that this a beer. The fruit helps the balance by bringing down the sour character but it's still pretty big. The raspberry flavor is much more subtle than in the aroma and there's also some lemon flavors as well. The beer finishes very, very dry.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is huge, almost too big but it's still pleasant. The body is light and overall, it's very crisp.
Overall Impression - DESTIHL just started distributing in Missouri about a month or so ago (don't quote me on that timing...it was recent, okay?) and these wild beers are what I was most excited about trying. Getting these styles both in cans and at an affordable price is amazing. This one pushed the boundaries of sour and carbonation but I would absolutely drink it again and recommend you try it yourself.
