Best Quote During Tasting
I can't talk about this year's election for more than 10 seconds before I drop an f-bomb.
Aroma - A nice blend of bread crust and slight caramel from the malts merge with spicy, fruity (grapefruit and peach), and even slightly resinous hops. There's no doubt it's an IPA from the smell alone.
Appearance - The beer pours a deep gold and the foam cap sits a finger and a half high and is made up of small bubbles that cling to the glass.
Flavor - Boy is this bitter. The malts are sweet with caramel, toasted and bread crust notes all playing well together. Those malts do a phenomenal job of trying to bring balance into the mix of those bitter hops but they fall short. They're not just bitter, they still have some citrus that comes out as well. At the end of it all, there's a bit of alcohol that comes through.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation is medium+ and body is medium. The beer coats your tongue but has enough carbonation to wash it away once swallowed.
Overall Impression - For just 6.7%, this one had a decent alcohol bite. The big bitterness also furthers that perception. The best part of this beer is how big it was. This could easily be confused for a DIPA because of how hoppy, sweet and bitter it was. I wouldn't go crazy trying to find this one out on shelves but I would definitely order this one on tap out in OK.
