The punch line to my joke as a kid was "boo-bees" so I think I was a pretty rad trick-or-treater.
Justin:
Aroma - Big caramel and toffee notes come from this malt forward ale. The hops are hard to find and if anything, I get some very, very subtle floral |
Score: 8/12 |
Appearance - The beer is a crystal clear light amber with a off-white head that starts fluffy by quickly recedes to a thin film. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The flavor again is very malt focused. There is light caramel and toffee with some bread crust qualities mixed in. The hops are there for balance and don't overwhelm, just providing slight spice and floral notes. The finish is semi-dry and the beer goes down smooth. |
Score: 14/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is medium and the carbonation is just above medium. The beer comes across well in that it has enough weight behind it to support some of those caramel qualities but enough carbonation to scrub your tongue as you drink it. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - This one was a little sweeter and less hop forward as a typical American Amber Ale so it lost some points from that perspective. Other than that, it was a good beer. I could see this being a real people pleaser but if you're looking for an example of the beer that's to style, this one doesn't quite hit the mark. I would definitely drink this one with some desserts because the caramel sweetness would match up well with most of them. |
