Blake:
Aroma |
Very robust aroma that consists of tart cherries that blend nicely with the acidic nature present. It's very fruity beyond the cherry as well with grape, apple, and lemon all present, too. The fruits really help balance out the fair amount of funk present. |
Appearance |
Golden in color with a small white head, and plenty of carbonation making it's way to the top. |
Flavor |
Remember those tart cherries I mentioned in the aroma, they smack around your palate with some intense tartness. Slightly boozier than you'd expect at the ABV, but it does play nicely with all the fruits and sour present. It's very complex beyond the strong cherry flavor up front with green apple and a citrus that almost result in a champagne like flavor. |
Mouthfeel |
It looks like this one would be super carbonated, but in reality it is very smooth. Some sours tend to be a bit over the top with carbonation, but this one keeps it smooth giving an almost creamy mouthfeel. |
Overall Impression |
This isn't a sour for beginners. It's one of the styles I drink the most, and even I think puckered a bit upon my first big gulp. It's still intensely enjoyable. However, I'd suggest sharing the bottle with a few people to avoid eventual heartburn. |
