Did you know the term "poet" was actually named after Edgar Allen Poe?
Really?
No.
Justin:
Aroma - The biscuit and pie crust malts blend well with some citrus tartness right behind it. There are some floral notes as well from the hops but they're not very big. |
Score: 9/12 |
Appearance - The beer pours a crystal clear medium gold with a fluffy white head that while dense, doesn't stick around very long. |
Score: 3/3 |
Flavor - The malts on this one are the focal point with the tartness coming in at the end. There are some berry notes that accompany it which I wasn't expecting and they're quite nice. The malts again are biscuit and pie crust but with a hint of caramel as well. |
Score: 15/20 |
Mouthfeel - The body is medium and the carbonation is medium+. It's got a great pillowy feel on the tongue. |
Score: 4/5 |
Overall Impression - This beer actually was a bit of an enigma for me but in a good way. I don't know where that berry flavor came from but I liked it. I also didn't expect the malts to be so in focus but they were and I liked it. The tartness was definitely present but it wasn't overwhelming and I liked it. I'd say this would be one of the better beers to crack open if you're looking to introduce someone to sour beers. |
