Best Quote During Tasting
Remember when Felicity cut all of her hair off and the whole world freaked?
No! And why do you?
Aroma - The baking spices in this one are the main thing to get on the nose. There are mostly allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon. The other thing that comes in right at the end is a very subtle tartness.
Appearance - The beer is crystal clear and starts off with two fingers of white foam floating on top. The head quickly dies down to a thin film but never fully leaves.
Flavor - It's definitely a sour beer! The tartness is the biggest thing to get followed by those pumpkin pie spices. Again, the cinnamon and allspice are the ones that stand out the most although overall, the spices are subdued. The yeast is there but it's not overwhelming and wouldn't turn off someone afraid of brettanomyces. The balance isn't one sided but it could be a tad sweeter to even things out.
Mouthfeel - The body is thin and the carbonation is medium+. It's crisp but just a little too thin.
Overall Impression - This one isn't a homerun but I would consider it a stand up double. None of the flavors are that big so it would satisfy the sour fans that don't like pumpkin beers and the pumpkin beer fans that don't like brett. I'm not going to say it's something that I'd buy again but I do think it's something folks should try at least once to see which side of the fence they're on.
