This is a series of unpretentious, yet thoughtful, beer reviews of beers brewed all over the world. Today’s BANGER is:
Fantastic Voyage: Perennial Artisan Ales
Perennial stouts speak for themselves. Known for their huge, chewy, bodies and deeply rich flavor. Perennial’s stouts have become the standard for how a stout should look and feel when you’re pouring and drinking it.
Pours out of the can like motor oil. A thick, chocolate colored head forms over pitch black beer.
Bitter sweet chocolate up front. Tobacco with soft touches of toasted coconut as it breathes.
Mouthfeel is HUGE. Fantastic Voyage coats your whole tongue and leaves behind bitter dark chocolate. Very little coconut comes through. With some sips the coconut isn’t present at all. So far just a chewy, brownie batter, bomb.
The coconut peaks its way through but is still overpowered by this beers heavy, flavorful base. Delicious but for a “Milk Stout Brewed With Coconut” I expected a touch more. As carbonation escapes this beer the body grows. Tobacco leaf and licorice notes start adding to this beers already complex flavors.
Out the nose milk chocolate sweetness with a slight nostril burn from alcohol. No acidity.
