I'm not getting much peat.
Pete? What does he smell like?
Aroma - Caramel, smoke, toast and bread crust all vie for your attention with the smoke coming out the strongest. It's also sweet but not cloying and it has no perceptible quality other than its sweetness.
Appearance - It's a crystal clear deep amber with a thin, off-white head that is made up of tight bubbles and never fully leaves.
Flavor - It's very, very caramelly and very, very smoky. The bread crust from the nose is there too and the toasted notes from the malts are showing up but in a small way. The hops that are there are woody, slightly earthy and hard to find.
Mouthfeel - The body is light-medium and the carbonation is medium+. It's quite crisp.
Overall Impression - This one was different than I expected but in a good way. The smoke was a lot more than I expected which made it more of a true rauchbier but the malts that were there were big enough to not let it overwhelm. I would love to drink this with some good barbecued sausages.
