How do I feel about the Cubs winning the World Series? I don't. I don't feel about it.
Justin:
Aroma - The brett is the first thing you get and while it's slightly funky it's got more of the "cherry pie" character that it sometimes is described as. The papaya is also perceptible and brings some sweeteness into play. The overall vibe of the aroma is reminiscent of a white wine. |
Score: 10/12 |
Appearance - A watery, straw colored beer is completely transparent and pours without a head. |
Score: 2/3 |
Flavor - It may not look like much but it sure does pack a punch in the flavor. It's acidity is quite high and the tartness is huge which makes brett take a backseat to it. The brett does lend a little bit of some hay flavor but it's not overly "funky" as it sometimes can be. The papaya is also very present and comes across as more of a pineapple. There's also a biscuity malt flavor that pops when you swallow the beer and it finishes quite dry. |
Score: 16/20 |
Mouthfeel - Despite the lack of a head, the beer is quite carbonated and I would classify it as medium. The body of the beer is thin but the levels of the carbonation and body work well together so it's very drinkable. |
Score: 3/5 |
Overall Impression - This is the kind of beer that people are going to really enjoy or they'll turn their nose up at it. It's bold and yet soft at the same time. I could see wine drinkers taking to this one easily based on some of the flavors that are going on. The thing that people will love or hate is the big acidic tartness. It wasn't a turnoff for me but I guarantee I wouldn't drink more than one of these a night in order to save my stomach lining. |
Score: 8/10 |
