Stout Season Has Begun!
It can be argued that "all seasons are stout season" but there is very much a stigma around stouts and chilly weather. They are cozy beers. Big and rich like an adult cup of hot cocoa!
The temperature in St. Louis is beginning to drop which means that "stout season" is upon us. Stouts have become one of the most versatile styles of beer. Incorporating bold flavor additions such as: Coffee, vanilla, peanut butter and even chili peppers. There truly is a flavor for everyone.
Grab a warm blanket, kick your feet up and crank up the heat! These are my 5 go to stouts during the start of this cooler season.

Name of Beer: Breakfast Stout |
Brewery: Founders |
Style: Imperial Coffee Stout |
ABV/IBU: 8.3% - 60 |
Description: The coffee lover’s consummate beer. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and imported chocolates, and Sumatra and Kona coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that goes forever. |

Name of Beer: Liquid Spiritual Delight |
Brewery: 2nd Shift |
Style: American Imperial Stout |
ABV/IBU: 11.5% - N/A |
Description: LSD is a stout that is a chewy, chocolaty and a joy to behold. Just friggin drink it |

Name of Beer: Expedition Stout |
Brewery: Bell's |
Style: Russian Imperial Stout |
ABV/IBU: 10.5 - 75 |
Description: One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages. |

Name of Beer: Absence of Light |
Brewery: 4 Hands |
Style: Peanut Butter, Milk Stout |
ABV/IBU: 7.1% - N/A |
Description: This is the new and improved Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout. This is a beer that deserved to stand on its own, so we rebranded it and gave it a bit more body. The beer is now 7.1%, but still holds the same flavor profile you all love from years past. |

Name of Beer: Imperial Grind |
Brewery: Mother's |
Style: Imperial Coffee Stout |
ABV/IBU: 10.5% - 50 |
Description: They said you couldn’t put more coffee into a stout. They said you couldn’t make the flavor and aroma bigger and badder. They said we’d lost our minds. We say, ‘Have a drink.’ |
