It’s safe to say that Design2Brew is a little obsessed with beer. You might think that was a no-brainer by the fact that they’re the largest homebrew supply shop in the region. You might even say that it was apparent because they allow customers to brew their own beer on premise and offer free brewing lessons. Heck, you could even say it was obvious because if you’re looking to brew a mead or honey ale, they offer the largest in-stock selection of raw honey in the entire United States. Seriously. But actually, I say that because if all those things weren’t enough, they’re now a brewery.
Design2Brew has been open since September 2014 as a local homebrew shop and a place to brew on premise and business has been good. It’s for that reason that they decided to hold off on brewing beer. They’ve actually been licensed to do so since they opened but they wanted to get the retail side of their store up and running before they expanded on their business model.
Nicknamed “The Corner Pub,” Design2Brew’s tasting room can have 10 beers on draught at one time (8 regular faucets and two nitro). Their half barrel system produces 10 gallon batches at time but the struggle to keep all 10 lines flowing at a time is a problem owners Don and Steph are glad to have. Much like their retail side, the brewery’s been a success since they started pouring beers in January of this year so supply is not always able to meet demand.

While they have a handful of beers that they’ll be keeping on at all times, their small batches and surplus of ingredients mean that you’re bound to see at least four interesting beers on tap at any given time. Most beers will run you just $4 for a glass and if you’re in the mood to try a few, you can even get a four ounce taster of any beer for $2. Want to take some home? Bring any 32 or 64 ounce growler and they’ll fill those, too.
