Another day, another awesome beer business gets started in St. Louis. BeerSauce Box is a subscription service that ships merch boxes to customers monthly. Each box includes at least five items that came from breweries, sauce creators and BBQ aficionados. If the 4th of July were in subscription form, it would be BeerSauce Box. #murica
“So, these 5+ items, what exactly are they?”
Good question, fake audience participant that was necessary to move this article forward! To be short and sweet about it: it’s a surprise! I mean, you do have to provide your t-shirt size so that should be a clue but you don’t know where it’ll be from. All you know is that your’re guaranteed at least $50 worth of goodies each time you open a box and the MOST expensive subscription is just $19.95 + S & H for a month. So you’re at least doubling your investment with any purchase.
“But…for real…what comes in the box, though?”
Uggh. This guy again? Fine. The February box is still a mystery but we do know that the folks at Mother of All Beef (MOAB Provisions) are playing a big part in it. Mother. Of. All. Beef. Tell me you’ll be upset about that and I’ll call you a liar to your face. But to more directly answer that question, let’s take a look at the January box to see what was included, shall we?
Beer
No, not actual beer. The beer portion is any kind of item that a beer geek would would be excited about. The beer items in the box outweighed the sauce and the BBQ by just a bit. Not a complaint on any level, just stating facts.
On the beer side you got a t-shirt from Friendship Brewing Company in Wentzville, a tasting glass with the BeerSauce Box logo, a pocket beer-tasting journal and a chocolate coffee stout bar made from spent grains. You also got a sweet bottle opener that fits nicely in your credit card slot in your wallet. I mean, technically it’s from a BBQ company but it does open beer so let’s put it in with the beer stuff. I actually have an opener like this already and can say that if you’re the type of person who doesn’t want extra clutter on your keychain, this thing is perfect.
Sauce
The bottle of hot sauce in this one was “Melinda’s Original Habanero Pepper Sauce” which also said “XXXtra Hot Sauce” on the label. *** Insert your own joke about XXX and burning here *** The full ingredients are carrots, garlic, onion, lime juice, vinegar and salt. Oh yeah…and friggin’ habaneros. While the bottle is just two ounces, considering the type of pepper used, this should last you a while. While I’m no sauce expert, the garlic came through nicely and the heat was definitely there but easily manageable. This sauce will definitely make it’s way to my eggs.
BBQ
We already mentioned the bottle opener from Grillinator under the “beer” section above, but Grillinator provided one more item as well. While it doesn’t have “XXX” in its name like ol’ Melinda, it definitely will help a lot of people live out a fantasy. However, this fantasy has its roots in the comic book universe because THEY’RE WOLVERINE CLAWS! Technically, they refer to them as “Meat Claws” but we all know what’s really going down. These claws are designed for pulling apart pork and shredding meats in general while keeping your hands mess and burn free. While I haven’t tested them out yet, I’m not joking when I say I bought a 5 pound pork butt yesterday that will put these bad boys to use ASAP.
Recap
For $25 or so (monthly cost + Shipping & Handling) this is absolutely a solid investment. The claws and t-shirt get you to that cost easily so all the other stuff is just a bonus. The other items are all definitely going to get used, too. I already said what my intentions were for spicy Melinda but that tasting glass will see its fair share of beers in the near future (possibly paired with that beer-tasting journal) and I don’t think that regrained bar will live to see next weekend. There are three different subscription options: 1 month, 6 month and 12 month and if you’re interested, you can choose the option that’s best for you by clicking here.
Also, if you feel like having a physical store to walk into that would carry all of this stuff for you to pick and choose from, you’re in luck. The guys behind BeerSauce Box will be opening BeerSauce Shop in St. Charles County in the upcoming months! Their bottleshop will have hundreds of beers as well as a HUGE assortment of BBQ and hot sauces, allowing you to start a mouth fire and then put it out.
