This is a series of unpretentious, yet thoughtful, beer reviews of beers brewed all over the world. Todays BANGER is:
Stupid Head: Stillwater Artisanal
This beer has quite a bit going on! As if being brewed with Lactose, Mango and Pineapple wasn’t enough. This hefeweizen also sits at a hefty 8% ABV and has been double dry-hopped. Very “90’s” artwork covers this can in bright colors causing it to really pop on store shelves in a luminous and nostalgic way.
The Look:
Pours out a cloudy pale yellow with a thick white head.
The Nose:
Big Pineapple on the nose with touches of sweet breads, sugar cereal and alcohol.
First Sip:
Mild bitterness comes through notes of vanilla cream and pineapple. Soft wheat and tangerine in the finish. This is medium bodied and fairly dry. There were also touches of cane sugar.
Warming Up:
This beers sweetness is starting to become cloying. More and more orange and pineapple flavors begin to come out. Very little mango shows itself in this one. The alcohol comes through strongly in the nose.
The Burp:
More alcohol than I expected followed by bitter, citrus, fruit skins.
