This is a series of unpretentious, yet thoughtful, beer reviews of beers brewed all over the world. Today’s BANGER is:
Here Comes The Reaper: 18th Street Brewery
Right off the bat…I love this can. A bad ass grim reaper pointing outward with a golden moon behind them is anything and everything that has me reaching for a can. This is a 6.3% ABV India Pale Ale. Seems simple enough right? Lets get into it…
The Look:
Pours out of the can with a slight haze, a darker yellow leaning its way to orange with a sturdy, off white, head.
The Nose:
Not the most aromatic beer. A very soft nose featuring your usual cast of pine, orange peel and a slightly earthy (almost like wood) finish.
First Sip:
Very creamy mouthfeel. Soft Orange and berry notes followed by herbal tea and pine. Very low bitterness.
Warming Up:
Not a ton of change. Bitter fruit rind and touches of acidity begin to come through. Lightly toasted bread begins to peak its way through the citrus and pine.
The Burp:
A blast of citrus with very little acidity. Tingles the nose hairs.
