This is a series of unpretentious, yet thoughtful, beer reviews of beers brewed all over the world. Today’s BANGER is:
Havana Affair: Stonecloud Brewing
Anyone that knows me probably already knows that I am in love with lager beer. I cant get enough. Seeing a Pilsner or a Helles on tap always gets me excited. They are simple beers by way of flavor but complicated in their execution. Any little mistake become apparent.
The Look:
The beer pours out a pale yellow without perfect clarity. A tight white head clings to the glass and lingers throughout the entire beer.
The Nose:
Water crackers and grassy hops hit me in the face first. The nose gets sweeter and more bready with time.
First Sip:
Very crisp with pretty low bitterness. Grassy and herbal with a nice medium body. For such a light beer (4.8%) each sip feels incredibly full. The malt comes through nicely with a decently balanced flavor. A hair sweeter than I would prefer but nothing that should stop anyone from smashing.
Warming Up:
The bitterness comes through a bit more now that I am about halfway done with the beer. It balanced out that sweetness from earlier. Cracker and sweet bread flavors coming in strong as well.
The Burp:
All Crackers… All Day!
