This is a series of unpretentious, yet thoughtful, beer reviews of beers brewed all over the world. Today’s BANGER is:
SHB: DDH Grungeist: Narrow Gauge Brewing
Narrow Gauge Brewing Company has become a crowd favorite for both St. Louis locals and out of town beer hunters. Their take on New England Style IPAs has everybody drooling. I’m always excited to try the new beers they put out as well as the re-releases of their delicious flagships.
The Look:
The beer pours heavy with a deep haze. Golden in color with a creamy white head.
The Nose:
Grass and lemon with touches of peach and herbal tea.
First Sip:
Slight bitterness and citrus peel hit you first. The medium bodied beer coats your tongue and the flavor develops evenly. A soft breadiness and mild pine notes finish the sip off.
Warming Up:
Bitterness remains but the citrus really begins to pop. As the carbonation escapes the beer it becomes a bit heavy. To be honest these beers are so crushable that its almost a challenge to drink it NOT drink it quickly.
The Burp:
Citrus for days.
